A month of social posts, custom GPTs retiring and a Copilot meter
Archive · Issue of 18 September 2026

Grüezi, bonjour, buongiorno.
This week is about getting seen: a month of social posts, written and scheduled in one sitting. In the news, two tools many of you pay for changed the rules, and Switzerland’s own AI model got a lot easier to try.
The big three
1. OpenAI is retiring custom GPTs On 11 September OpenAI said it will retire custom GPTs across all ChatGPT plans and offer a move to “plugins”. Retirement dates are to follow. So what for your business? List the GPTs your team uses now and who built them. Only creators can migrate them. Update, October 2026: no new GPTs after 26 October; standard plans lose them on 11 December. Read more
2. Microsoft adds a pay-per-use meter to Copilot Business On 16 September Microsoft told resellers that new Copilot Business licences bought from 2 November will have usage-based billing switched on by default, charged in credits on top of the per-user price. So what for your business? Buying Copilot through your IT partner? Ask whether the meter is on and set your own monthly cap. Update, October 2026: the start moved to 1 December. Read more
3. Swiss model Apertus now inside Proton’s Lumo On 17 September ETH Zurich announced that Apertus 1.5, built by EPFL, ETH Zurich and CSCS, is now a model option in Lumo, the AI assistant from Geneva-based Proton. Proton says chats stay encrypted. So what for your business? The easiest way yet to test a Swiss-built model on your own weekly tasks. No setup, free account. Read more

🔒 Template of the week

One number
40%: the share of Apertus’s training data that is not in English, against roughly 10% for competing models, according to swissinfo.ch’s one-year review of the Swiss model (swissinfo.ch, 2 September 2026). One reason to test it on French and Italian posts, not only German ones.
That’s it for this week. Hit reply and tell me: which channel brings you actual customers, and which one do you post on out of guilt? I’ll share the answers (anonymously) in a future issue.
