Claude now works inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides

If your team works in Google Workspace, you no longer copy text between Claude and your documents. Claude now opens beside the file and edits it there: a price list in Sheets, an offer in Docs, a pitch deck in Slides.

What happened

On 6 October, Anthropic released Claude for Google Workspace in beta for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise (Claude). In a sidebar beside the file, Claude:

  • Docs: rewrites long documents, turns notes into tables, fixes headings and numbering.
  • Sheets: explains and fixes formulas, flags hard-typed numbers, cleans up data, adds charts and pivot tables.
  • Slides: drafts slides in your deck’s own layouts, splits crowded slides and adds charts.

By default, Claude explains each change and waits until you click Allow. New Docs, Sheets and Slides connectors also let Claude create Google files from a normal chat. On Team and Enterprise, an owner switches the connectors on first.

Why it matters for your business

Using AI on office files used to mean copying text back and forth, then fixing the formatting. Now Claude works on the real file, in your own template. Typical jobs: tidy last year’s offer into this year’s prices, fix broken formulas in the stock list, or turn meeting notes into five slides in the company layout.

The Swiss angle

  • Available in Switzerland: yes, on paid plans. Pro is USD 20 a month (about CHF 17), or USD 17 (about CHF 14) paid yearly. Team is USD 25 per person a month (about CHF 21), or USD 20 (about CHF 17) paid yearly.
  • Data: on Team and Enterprise, the business terms and data processing addendum apply. Anthropic does not train on content from the add-on and deletes it within 30 days.
  • Browser: Chrome, Edge or Safari (not Firefox).
  • Languages: you can write to Claude in German, French or Italian, and its menus come in all three.

What to do

  1. Open the Claude listing in the Google Workspace Marketplace and click Install, then Continue and Allow. If the install is blocked, your Google administrator clicks Admin install.
  2. Open a Sheet you fix by hand every month and go to Extensions > Claude > Open Claude.
  3. Ask: “Check this sheet for broken formulas and hard-typed numbers, and fix them.” Click Allow for each change.
